 Come play this summer at Saied Music Summer Camps!

We have something musical for all ages, abilities, and interests.

Summer 2017 Camp Schedule

Ukulele Camp: $75

June 12 – June 16

9:30am-12:30pm

Students will experience first hand fun and social music making on the Ukulele.  Exploding in popularity around the country, Ukulele players can now be found in all styles and genres.  Whether on the beach, at the pool, in the backyard with friends or around a campfire with family, making music on the Uke brings people together.  Campers will have fun learning the basic fingerings, chords and technique and leave with a repertoire of music.

Guitar Camp:  $75
June 19 – June 23

9:30am-12:30pm

This one week beginner course will teach you the basics of playing guitar as you play with others under the patient and expert guidance of an experienced instructor. You’ll learn the basics of chords, strumming, and reading tablature in the context of carefully selected riffs and songs, how to care for and tune your guitar, to listen to music like a professional musician. At the end of your camp, your group will perform a song in an end of week performance!

Beginning Piano Camp: $75

July 10 – July 14

9:30am-12:30pm

This exciting one-week camp is open to beginners, from age 6 to 12, who have had one year or less of piano study. Students learn to play several beginning piano pieces and the basics of music reading, rhythm and keyboard theory. This fun, interactive camp includes listening activities, theory games, group work and includes guided practice time. On Friday there will be a student showcase at 12:30 pm­­­­­­­ that will conclude the camp week. This camp is ideal for children who would like to try piano for the first time, as well as beginners with some experience. Cost is $75 for the entire week.

Intermediate String Camp: $75

June 19 – June 23

9:30am-12:30pm

Intermediate String Camp is a Beginning Chamber Music Camp for violin and viola students who are proficient at reading music, Suzuki students who are mid to late Book 2/3 or students that have at least 2 years of playing experience.  Previous chamber/orchestra ensemble experience not required. This camp will focus primarily on chamber music, providing skills that will prepare campers for future orchestral or group playing.  This camp will include daily ensemble instruction, individual instruction, monitored practice time and masterclasses to learn from other professional musicians.  Students must provide their own instrument. On Friday there will be a final student showcase concert at 12:30 pm to conclude the camp week. Cost is $75 for the entire week

Fiddle Camp:  $75

June 26 – June 30

9:30am-12:30pm

This camp will introduce violins and violas to children ages 6-12 years old and teach the musical style of fiddling to campers.  Students will receive five days of hands-on string instruction along with singing and music theory games.  Campers will receive beginning instruction on the care and maintenance of the string instruments, beginning bow technique,  and basic songs in the style of fiddling. Camp time will also include singing, music theory games, and enrichment activities.  Campers will need to bring a snack and water each day. Students will be allowed to rent an instrument from Saied Music to use during camp hours for a fee. Students must provide their own instrument. On Friday there will be a final student showcase concert beginning at 12:30 p.m. to conclude the camp week. Cost is $75 for the entire week.

Music Theater Camp: $75

July 17 – 21

9:30am-12:30pm

Campers will put on an original musical. They will get to star in the show and take part in staging, and choreography, singing and acting in a live performance. Campers will also be granted access to our exclusive online practice YouTube channel that will provide them with instruction videos, song demo videos, and audio files for them to play along with at home long after the camp week has ended. 

 As always, our private lessons for all instruments, piano, and voice continue through the summer. Adults, check “learn to play piano” off of your bucket list with private lessons or our Beginning Adult Piano Class!

Who: YOU!!! Open to all trombone and clarinet players from beginning to Senior Citizens.

What: A Music “Club” where you meet with fellow musicians for fun and fellowship while learning!

Where: Saied Music South (71st and Mingo)

When: Six weekly sessions June 1st – July 6th Thursdays 6pm – 7pm

Why: The goal for the club is to provide a positive experience for attendees while they are learning more about their instrument. It is open for all instrumentalists from beginning players to senior citizens. Our desire is that school-age students will continue learning and playing their instrument through the summer months, individuals that would like to learn a secondary instrument can have that opportunity, and adults who may have played an instrument in the past might pull their instrument out of the closet and re-kindle the joy that is achieved through participation in music.

Cost: $ 75.00 includes 6 1-hour sessions (attendance at all meetings is not required)

Facilitators: Christy Andrews, principal clarinet of the Tulsa Signature Symphony and ORU clarinet instructor will be facilitating the clarinet class.

Jeremy Parker, head band director for Bixby Public Schools, founding member of Tulsa Spotlight Brass, and member of the Tulsa Starlight Band & Big Band will be facilitating the trombone class.

Details: The participant makeup of each class will be used as a means to determine the curriculum and direction for that particular class. The sessions will include master classes on accepted practices for playing with good tone and proper technique, the history and evolution of the instrument, ensemble playing (as instrumentation permits), instrument care and maintenance, and other important topics related to the particular instrument.
