Should I buy a
Vertical (Upright) Piano?

There are many reasons to buy a vertical piano. The main reasons are space, size, and price.

Vertical pianos don't take up a lot of space. They are typically 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep. Most people don't have the space for a grand piano. However, vertical pianos that are larger than 45" tall have a better sound and larger soundboard than a grand piano under 5 feet in length.

There are 3 generic names for 3 sizes of vertical pianos.

The longer the strings in a piano, the better a piano is going to sound. Since you can fit longer strings in a bigger piano, bigger pianos are going to have a better sound than smaller pianos. Bigger pianos always have a "bassier" sound which is more pleasing to the ear. Also, different manufacturers have either more mellow or more bright sounds. To see which type you like better, please demo vertical pianos in our store.

Prices of new vertical pianos start at about $2000 for your typical Korean made consoles. The better the craftsmanship and materials used (solid spruce soundboard vs. laminated sound board) the more the piano will cost. As in everything else, you get what you pay for.
